Buy a baby seat
Buying a baby seat for your bicycle is a delicate decision. When buying a product that affects safety, it is very important to know all the options and differences between products, the different mounting systems, and the correct way to use it.
Regulations for bicycle child seats specify several important requirements, such as covering the back of the head and the arms, and securing the feet with straps. In addition to these basic requirements, it is important to choose a baby seat that is sufficiently robust and durable. There are many baby seat brands, and we work with Weeride, C.B.F., Yeep, and Polisport, all of which are highly reputable and trusted brands.
All the baby seats we sell have been tested by our team with young children. We can advise you based on our experience, from seats that attach to a luggage rack or frame to the innovative front-mounted design. We will go over all the details of each one. If you have any questions, you can always contact us by email or phone, and our product specialists will be happy to help.
Luggage rack mounting
Child seats can be attached to the rear luggage rack. It is very important to remember that the rear rack must support at least the child's total weight plus the weight of the baby seat. Keep in mind that a bicycle child seat can weigh around 3 or 4 kilos and may support a child weighing up to 22 kilos, so the luggage rack or rear carrier must support at least 25 kilos.
If our rear carrier or luggage rack does not support at least 25 kilos, we recommend using a different type of bicycle seat for carrying babies, such as one that attaches to the frame. It is also important, and no less so, to ensure that the rack is correctly bolted to the frame with the appropriate screws and that it is securely attached.
Another important consideration when installing a child seat on the rear carrier of your bicycle is that it must be completely level. If it is not, we will need to replace it. There are also rack adapters that allow seats to be used in such cases, such as the Yeep Easyfit adapter.
Frame-mounted seat
If you do not have a rear luggage rack or carrier, or if it does not allow you to attach a child seat comfortably, another option is to install a frame-mounted bicycle baby seat. These seats are generally attached to the vertical tube, providing a reliable and secure way to mount our seat.
Frame-mounted seats are easy to install and are highly versatile, as they generally accommodate the most common tube diameters for both aluminum bicycles with wider tubes and traditional bicycles with steel tubing.
If you have a mountain bike, you can also easily install this type of seat. It is easy to attach and can always be removed simply by leaving the mounting bracket attached to the frame when not in use.
Front baby seats
For younger children, we recommend front seats. They are very safe, as the child is protected by our armrests and can also enjoy the ride much more by sitting at the front instead of the back. This allows them to enjoy the view and hold onto the bicycle handlebars as if they were riding themselves.
Some bicycle child seat brands, such as Weeride, provide additional safety with an extra horizontal bar and also feature a handlebar protector that allows the child to sleep peacefully in the seat.
Other traditional bicycle child seat manufacturers include the Italian brand C.B.F., an iconic Italian brand that continues to produce baby seats like those of the past—elegant and classic, ideal for retro bicycles, and fully compliant with current regulations.
